Settings for every tool
Settings in My data are used by every Nivesh Sahayak tool in this browser when you start a new document or open a report.
What each setting does
- General. Default business (a new document starts with it) and Remind me to save a backup (every 7, 15 or 30 days, or never). Language is changed from the language menu at the top.
- Invoice (Billing). Numbering and New invoice defaults: type (tax invoice, bill of supply, invoice when not GST registered), GST rate and unit for a new line, round off, colour, notes and terms.
- Safety. PIN lock: a PIN asked when the tools open on this device.
- Godowns and branches, Salesmen, Custom fields on documents. Names used on bills under More details.
- Stock valuation. Value closing stock by Weighted average cost or FIFO (first in, first out). Both are allowed (AS 2); use the same method every year.
- Final accounts. T format (horizontal) or Schedule III (vertical), and Direct and indirect expenses: which expense heads go into the trading account.
Worked example
A dealer who sells mostly at 18% sets GST rate for a new line to 18% and unit Nos. Each new invoice line starts with 18% and Nos; only the odd 5% item needs changing.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Changing stock valuation after the year closed. It changes last year's figures too. Decide once with your accountant.
